Breaking the Barriers - Our 2023 Impact Story
At ThriveAgric, we envision a future where Africa not only feeds itself but also contributes to global food security. However, the challenges facing smallholder farmers (SHFs) are significant. Despite producing 80% of the continent's food, these farmers often find themselves trapped in cycles of poverty, losing up to 40% of their crops due to inadequate resources, climate change, and limited market access. Consequently, this situation has led to a staggering 14.3% increase in food prices, putting immense pressure on communities across the continent.
In light of these challenges, we at ThriveAgric believe in actionable solutions. Our mission is clear: to empower these farmers sustainably by providing them with essential resources. This includes access to high-quality inputs, technology-driven best practices, premium market access, and climate-smart solutions. By equipping farmers with the tools they need, we can help them not just survive but thrive.
As we reflect on our impact in 2023, the results are profoundly encouraging. We reached over 820,000 smallholder farmers and disbursed $40 million in loans to more than 273,000 farmers. Together, we produced an impressive 2.3 million metric tons of grains, demonstrating the power of collaboration and support. Furthermore, with over 400 storage warehouses established across Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and Uganda, each farmer experienced an annual revenue increase of $4,200, significantly enhancing their families' livelihoods.
Moreover, sustainability remains at the heart of our operations. This year, over 300,000 smallholder farmers adopted sustainable farming methods, showcasing a collective commitment to environmental stewardship. In addition, we trained 30,000 farmers on carbon sequestration, highlighting our dedication to combating climate change. Our efforts to plant 3 million trees further enhance climate resilience, ensuring that our agricultural practices contribute positively to the environment. With over 500 partnerships secured and 3,000 communities reached, we are building a robust network of support for farmers that extends beyond mere numbers.
Equally important is our focus on empowering women and youth. In 2023, we achieved a balanced participation rate of 55% male and 45% female in our programs, which underscores our commitment to inclusivity. Furthermore, we engaged over 10,000 youths through initiatives like the Inaugural Abuja Tech Converge and the Youth Employability Series. Our training programs on Climate Smart Agriculture and Good Agricultural Practices reached 6,373 participants, with 47% of them being women and 49% youth, reflecting our dedication to fostering a new generation of agricultural leaders.
Ultimately, every statistic we share tells a story of resilience, hope, and transformation. We are not just about numbers; we are a community of farmers, innovators, and advocates working together to change the narrative of African agriculture.
As we look to the future, we invite you to join us on this journey to build an Africa that feeds herself and the world. Together, we can make a lasting impact!
